RESONANZ
Scenography for RESONANZ, artistic research project by Anna Zett und Hermann Heißig, together with Romy Kießling under the name wkc, 2020-21
RESONANZ addresses personal memories of the former German state of the GDR through participatory storytelling. The aim of the project is to use personal dialogue and free association to open up new spaces of imagination within the ideologically overloaded discourse on East Germany. In an iterative, research-based process we developed the spatial setting and a series of chairs for the performance. Objects, materials, and typography stemming from the GDR were re-interpreted in a playing field where the participants take on various roles in the conversation game. By means of custom-bent steel tubes, four identical, standardised GDR chairs are each given a new individual character that activates different bodily positions, supporting the storytelling format with an embodied and material dimension.
